Week of Prep: Transitional Tweeds

‘Tis the season for tweed, if ever there was one. In Day 4 of our continuing collaboration with Fred Castleberry of Unabashedly Prep, we’ve embraced the season fully with a focus on the season’s most important fabric: Tweed. The brisk weather of fall means that thinner fabrics are out and heavier materials, such as tweed, are the play. Of course, the tweed jacket is something all of us have become quite familiar with and it really is our first choice of light outerwear this season. While you can find tweeds in all different colors and patterns, a grey herringbone is the most versatile option you can have in your closet.

Tweed trousers are always a brilliant thing to have in your wardrobe this time of the year. Like a tweed jacket, they’re a bit sportier than their peers and thus are great for younger guys who want to look put together without feeling like they’re overdressing. Dennis (right) shows us that a pair of well tailored tweed trousers can be one of the major highlights of your fall clothing rotation. These particular brown donegal tweed pieces are especially great as they can work with any grey or navy sport coat.
