One of the most overlooked sects of American style has to be the woodsmen. When most list the major American “looks” they go through the Ivy League style of the Northeast, the Southern Prep, and the Western cowboy, but rarely do they consider those who sit in the uppermost corners of our country. We’re huge fans of the rugged aesthetic, especially when it dabbles with some of these other influencers. Here you can see Chris in an outfit with strong ties to the style of Maine and Oregon, but with an Ivy twist.

Chambray and corduroy shirts are the kind of things you’ll see all the time the farther north you go, but when paired with a navy windowpane sportcoat they take on a slightly different aesthetic. It’s a blending of the two looks into one that is polished, yet masculine. We’ve been wearing two shirts quite a bit this winter to add another  layer of warmth and the corduroy shirt is ideal for this. It will provide a ton of warmth without much bulk, so you can wear it under a sport coat without looking like you’re smuggling something.

While the jacket and shirts may provide most of the stylistic choices in this one, we love how you can find this same blending of aesthetics all the way down to the wristwear. The black and orange watchstrap obviously has Ivy League connotations, but the sportier watch makes this combination a great pairing with what is going on in the rest of the outfit. In addition, a pair of sunglasses in the breast pocket add points in both the style and functionality departments–never forget how bright these cold winter days can be.
