In a move that surprised no one, Target and Paul Rodriguez recently announced that P-Rod will be the newest addition to the bulls-eye branded action sports team. Rodriguez is a perfect fit for the Target group, given his robust PR abilities and stand up guy image. P-Rod will now join the likes of Shaun White, Mat Hoffman, Kolohe Andino, Carissa Moore, Nate Adams, Kevin Robinson, Simon Dumont, Alex Prochazka and Ryan Dungey, who are all members of Target’s action sports team. Rodriguez is, however, the first street skater to join forces with Target. The official Target press release states:
Target and Paul Rodriguez are proud to announce the launch of their partnership. The professional skater, known for his effortless style is recognized by many as one of the most progressive street skaters in the sport and will now represent Target. “I grew up right across the street from a Target and have many memories of skating over to the store as a kid,” said Paul. “I’ve always loved their brand and am excited about the relationship and potential of what we can do together.”
At just 25 years old, Paul has achieved great success in both film and competition, continually proving his versatility across a number of formats. He holds the distinction of being the only three time X Games Skateboard Street Gold medalist and also won the first-ever Maloof Money Cup in 2008. In addition to his competitive achievements, Paul is an active member of his community, giving back through the recent opening of the Paul Rodriguez Skate Park in Pacoima, Calif. at the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center.
“Paul is an amazing competitor and is the perfect personality to add to our program,” said Troy Michels, Target Lifestyle Marketing. “With so many accomplishments and a promising future ahead of him, Paul is a natural fit for Target and we’re proud to have our brand represented on his skateboard.”
Look for P-Rod in Rob Dyrdek’s new “Street League,” which will be launching later this month.
