The internet and social media channels were buzzing loud yesterday with the news about Earl Simmons, a.k.a. rapper DMX who was found with drugs behind bars. Reports said that DMX has been cited for drug possession, failing and refusing a drug test and smoking when hes still incarcerated.
Ironically, DMX was scheduled to be released from jail today, July 13th. However, things happened and from where were sitting, it looks like hes going to be locked up for at least another week or maybe longer.
MTV News reported that Gary Jenkins, DMXs lawyer is hopeful that his client will get the help he needs to work on his drug addiction issues when hes finally released. Jenkins also said:
I hope that this time he understands that his addiction cant be dealt with privately.
Nakia Walker, DMXs manager, said that after the rappers long ordeal with drugs and authorities, she thinks DMX needs a new start.
Prison was never a place for Earl because he has a sickness. If he is medicated properly, he wouldnt have the need for drugs.
The rapper is originally scheduled to drop his new single Yall Dont Know featuring Busta Rhymes in the coming two or three weeks.
DMX was sentenced to a year in prison back in December last year, due to his lack of report to his probation officer and his refusal to undergo drug treatment. Before this incarceration, DMX has been arrested six times in Maricopa County, Arizona and according to AllHipHop.com, the rapper has been arrested at least once every year since 1999.
