Inspired by a Beauty Editor post, I thought it interesting to divulge the (measly) contents of my makeup case and ask you, lovely readers, what you tote around with you day to day (or day vs. night) in your carry alls makeup bag? Here below youll find my everyday beauty essentials and a little reasoning why. Im really a lip stain kind of gal so a little rotation of my fave tinted lip balms is pretty much the crux of my beauty routine on the go.
1. I always have Wet Ones around to clean my hands or any mess that might occur during the day. Theyre handy.
2. I have genetically very thin, dry skin and in the winter months, its more prone than usual to crack so I always have a hand cream on me. This Sephora one from their latest line is really great: non-greasy and very moisturizing.
3. Tartes lipstains are a favourite (along with Stilas Lip & Cheek stain in Cherry) because they provide a matte finish and natural colour.
4. Chapstick. Its a classic.
5. Hair elastics. I always have a few of these, in my makeup bag and on my wrist. I love any that are brightly coloured, neon or sparkly. I usually stick with Goodys Ouchless ones.
6. A Marc by Marc Jacobs lipstick pen. The cutest accessory for signing anything on the go. Elle Woods would definitely approve!
7. A pocket sided mirror. You never know when one of these will come in handy. This nameless one is pretty heavy so it withstands my sometimes haphazard nature with my personal belongings.
7. Dior Addicts High Shine in 554 (or Dior Addict Lip Glow). I am ADDICTED to this lipstick. Its glossy with a perfectly pink finish. Perfect for re-hydrating chapped lips (which, like my hands in the winter months, always are) and giving a boost of colour. The Lip Glow is a variation that works with your lips Ph levels to tint your pout naturally. Its actually my favourite of the two but recently fell on the floor and broke, so this ones a great substitute.
8. Kiehls #1 lip balm. I wear this every night in the winter and pretty much always have it on me when Im on the go. Its the most hydrating lip balm Ive ever tried (a great contender to Bag Balm). My chapped bottom lip is restored to smooth overnight when I apply it.
9. And one last tinted lip colour for the road: Nars Lip Lacquer in Diablo. I bought this tube maybe 5 years ago and I think Ill have it for my whole lifetime. A little goes a long way with this and creating a naturally flushed pout.
10. Marc Jacobs Daisy portable fragrance. I wear Chloé Eau de Parfum every day but for some reason I dont have a mini version of it and therefore rely on this Daisy roll-on fragrance pen when Im out because its so practical (virtually unsusceptible to leaks) and prior to Chloé, it was the perfume I wore the most. Its fresh scent is the perfect fragrant pick me up any time of day!
