Wednesday the 3rd of November was the official Canadian launch date for the hugely-hyped Lanvin for H&M pieces. Because the images were made available earlier in Europe we were able to show you this video earlier this week and thereby, a glimpse at the collection.
Despite having access to all this visual media, nothing beats seeing the pieces in person nor makes you want them even more!
Almost as an antidote to the menswear collection which has a very wearable, everyday aesthetic, the women’s pieces strike a far more festive note-perfect for a night out. Overall the most standout women’s pieces are without a doubt the dresses. Some are one-shouldered, some are crinoline but almost all are ruffled. Where many of them are black, there’s also quite the selection of brightly coloured dresses (in pink and yellow) and flower prints.
As for the shoes, for the most part they’re all stiletto heeled and (at a glance) about 6 inches high so for those with an aversion to high heels, these are probably not in your best interest to be worn at a day’s length. Thanks to the bow details or straps at the heel (that can also be tied around the ankles), the shoes strike more of a Louis Vuitton or Isabel Marant note circa this fall than a reflection of the collection Elbaz sent down the Lavin runways. Apart from said shoes and dresses, other standout items include t-shirts with legs and lip prints, origami pleated skirts and a zebra print trench.
If your intentions are to be a part of the courageous bunch willing to line up (think Christmas-worthy line ups), the gift boxes are exquisite and who could say no to a Lanvin bow tie?! And it has to be said that I’ve never seen as much attention attributed to a garment bag-you’ll be a proud owner if you’re lucky enough to score one of the dresses.
Despite the images being released earlier in Europe, us lucky North Americans will actually get to shop the collection three days earlier, as of the 20th of November. And I probably shouldn’t be telling you this (lest it diminish my chances of beating the mayhem) but the collection will be available at Montreal’s downtown store, 1100 St.Catherine st Ouest and it will be open one hour earlier, as of 8am for the launch’s occasion. Happy shopping!
