With every season that goes by, we see more and more trends come and go. Some are perfectly suited to one’s style, while others will never find their place in our wardrobe. For me, there’s one trend in particular I’ve been hoping to see the resurgence of for some time now: the 70’s look. Sure we’ve seen hints of ithere and there over the past few seasons, but never to this season’s extent. High-waited trousers, maxi dresses and capes all remind of the best of the rock & roll era. I feel such a strong sartorial connection with this particular trend that I can’t help but hope the industry’s enthusiasm for the look doesn’t soon dissipate.

My love for the look goes as far back as high school when I was completely infatuated with Almost Famous’ Penny Lane. I remember searching all the Mont-Royal vintage stores high and low (and still do) for a similar jacket to the one she so infamously wore throughout the film. To this day, I draw inspiration from her unfussy blond hair when styling my own.
Blame it on my eternal love for vintage that has me head over heels for this latest trend, but I just can’t help myself. One thing’s for sure, I’ll be spending my summer in maxi dresses and adopting Penny Lane as a nickname. Seems kind of fitting, when I think about all the (music) festivals I’m slated to be attending!
